Axle arrangement is stated in accordance with the European standard where numbers denote fixed trail axles in the frame and letters denote powered axles. ' denotes trail axles and axles in bogies.
Example: 1'C1' denotes an engine with three coupled axles in the frame and two trail axles. Bo'Bo' denotes an engine with two bogies with two individually powered axles each.

Littera Rc represents the longest production line of any electric engine built for the Swedish state railways (SJ) so far, and it was the first tyristor engine in the world to be put into serial production. A total number of 366 units of this type were delivered to SJ 1967-1988. The Rc was originally designed as an allround engine, but freight trains are normally pulled by Rc1, Rc2 and Rc4 which are allowed for 135 km/h. Together with Rc3 they differ from Rc5 and Rc6 in that they do not have any "box" on the roof. Images below show Rc1 and Rc4 with asymmetric red painting in order to make driving by radio easier (see the equivalent on diesel engines below). El.16 is mainly an Rc.
